Guys, I've got a VZ.24 that has "3HN 534" marked on the stock disk. If memory serves, this identifies the unit this rifle served with. Anyone know of a source that can identify what unit that would be?
Thanks.

a VZ24 question
I inherited a vz24 my grandpa bought at an auction a while back. It has been bubba'd, but has the czech lion, and a D5 serial number. It doesnt have the army aceptance marks on either side of the lion. It has a R A stamped 1/4" above a 4 leafed palm tree lokin think on the tim of the barrel, and has a cylleric block-A stamped on it too. Any thoughts?

Highlighting VZ24 markings
I'm just throwing this out there to get opinions on highlighting the markings with those white crayons you occasionally see. Does it do anything to the value? What are the best kind to use and where can you get one? My one VZ24 is in a display rack and I like the way markings stand out.

Opinions - modify or leave it alone - Persian Model 30 Carbine
Hello to all,
I haven't been on the forum in ages. I have what appears to be a Czech made model 30 Persian saddle ring carbine. The front sight wings had been cut off and a after market front sight added. Some how in the past I acquired the front sight sleeve with the military front sight. Would it be prudent to have the new military sight soldered on and the reciever and barrel reblued, as to resale value. Or just leave it be. It appears that it may have been reblued in the past as the bolt shroud and safety are blue not bare metal.
Thanks for any opinions or ideas
Pascal

SAMCO "no blue" Persian Mauser refinish
The topic of Samco "no bluing" 98/29 Persian Mausers seems to be hot right now. A few years ago I bought three of them with the intention of having them refinished. I've had two of them reblued and had the stocks refinished and am getting ready to send off the remaining one.
I've already posted pics of the first one that came back here:
http://www.surplusriflefo...pic.php?f=29&t=59057
I figured now is a good time to post pics of the other one that I had refinished:

Help IDing bolts
I would like to know if someone can give me an idea about this bolts manufacture date? I have had a couple of other Czech bolts but this ones "circle Z" stamp is a different font or style. I am looking for a more correct bolt for my 98/22. It currently has what I believe to be a German bolt.

Opinions on value - Considering sale Persian Model 30 Saddle Ring Carbine
Hello,
I am interested in any opinions on the value for sale of this rifle. I purchased it in the mid 70's and have used this forum to identify it as noted above and the questions on restoration. I have decided that I can use the money more than the rifle and I certainly won't be restoring it. From the best I can surmise, this carbine had the front sight hoods removed and a gold dot sight installed in the original military base. I believe it has been reblued, probably when the sight was cobbled as the bolt shroud and safety are blued, which I believe is incorrect. I sometime in the past managed to purchase a replacement military sight which is on a sleeve that is, soldered? to the barrel. I am including photos of the rifle and the replacement sight below.

Slick actions
I don't know if it is just me but compared to the other 8 Mausers I own my 2 Czech rifles, a VZ-24 and 98-22, feel like they are running on ball bearings.

Price Check - VZ 24
Hi all, I may have found a VZ 24, it's is Very Good + to excellent condition. It has the Czech crest intact and all numbers match, plus a matching bayonet and scabbard made in 1938 BTW and no import stamps..
So....what would be a fair price for one like this?
Thanks so much!

VZ-24 serial number
I have a VZ-24 that has been around, receiver has been scrubbed, but you can still see the wreath of King Carol but no date. serial number has a CR prefix, anybody know what that stands for?? Would that be 3rd series, Romania? thats my guess. Stock has 2 serial numbers under the rear sling swivel, and another in front of the trigger guard, so..its been recycled at least 4 times, none of the numbers match the receiver. Bolt is Gerrman, and all the Waa eagles have been carefully "Peened" one has a "2" as the 1st number and they missed the one on the extractor, its "214" which is Berliner-Lubeck, man, if only these rifles could talk, what a tale they could tell!! Please help ID this rifle
I received this rifle from my great uncle. I know from the markings that it is a vz24 - Serial #P5267. However, I don't know much else, including origin, if it has been modded, what ammo it uses, value, etc.
Any chance someone can help me with this?
I have attached some pictures to help with the ID.

When was my BRNO VZ24 Czech Mauser made & what is its approximate value
I inherited a Czechoslovakian VZ24 8mm [7.92x57] Mauser recently. It originally belonged to my great uncle, who served in the 42nd Combat Engineers Battalion, Patton's 3rd Army Group in WW II. I am uncertain as to the date and details on how this rifle came into my great uncle's possession or how long he owned the rifle. The following data will help with determining the age and hopefully, the approximate value of this rifle. The original stock is made of a solid hardwood, possibly walnut. All military cartouches, insignias and stampings have been removed from the stock and the holes filled in. (Unfortunately, the stock has been shortened and "sporterized".) The bolt and receiver have matching serial numbers and all parts of the rifle appear to be original. The Mauser is usable, shows minimal wear, has no rust and is accurate at 200 yards. (I have not had the opportunity to shoot the rifle at...

Please help ID Czech mauser pics
I just picked up a Brno cz24 with a dark stained stock. The only parts I can't identify are the bolt handle and the metal finish. It has a lion crest on top of receiver and an E3( lion) 38 on side of receiver ring. The finish on all parts is what I have read is called white finish, it basically looks shiny like stainless steel. I can't find any pictures with this white finish, why? Anything you can tell me about any aspect of the gun would be appreciated.
Serial # 4361 Z4
Bolt handle#1897OR? Can't identify (pic included)

Gauging interest in 7.62 x 39 replacement barrels for your Vz52 rifles
Guys,
I am good friends with Curtis at Ak-Builder.com. He has the capability now to make barrels, and even has a source to have them chromed. Just trying to see if there would be enough interest for him to make a run.

VZ24 30-06?
Hi. Obiously new to the forum. I know some of you do not like to discuss modified rifles, but I am sure you have plenty of knowledge to answer some questions. I have an opportunity to buy a VZ24 ser no. 4138x3 that has been sportorized to a 30-06 according to a barrel stamping. The stock is of course unoriginal also. My questions are:
What would the changing of the barrel to accomodate the 30-06 round do to the performace of the rifle?
Would this be very accurate?
How much increased range?
What was the useable range of the original rounds?
Dependability?
Thanks in advance...
